对于复杂的控制系统，使用PLC后，可以减少大量的中间继电器和时间继电器，小型PIC的体积仅相当于几个继电器的大小，因此可将开关柜的体积缩小到原来的l/2~1/10。
PLC控制系统的配线比继电器控制系统的少得多，故可以省下大量的配线和附件，减少很多安装接线工时，加上开关柜体积的缩小，可以节省大量的费用。
